FUTIC Injection

Intracin FUTIC (Furosemide Injection BP 5% w/v) is a veterinary diuretic used to treat conditions involving fluid retention and edema in cattle, horses, dogs, and cats. It works by increasing urine production, which helps reduce excess fluid in tissues and lungs.

INDICATIONS

  • Congestive Cardiomyopathy & Edema: Used to treat congestive cardiomyopathy and pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs).
  • Post-Parturient Udder Edema: Specifically indicated for treating udder edema and associated structures in cattle following calving.
  • Race Horses (Epistaxis): Helps prevent or reduce epistaxis (nosebleeds) in racehorses, including exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH).
  • Renal/Urinary Disorders: Used to manage hypercalcuric nephropathy and uremia.
  • Hyperkalemia: Used as an adjunct therapy for high potassium levels.
  • Antihypertensive: Occasionally used to reduce high blood pressure.

ADMINISTRATION

  • Intramuscular (IM) Injection: The injection goes directly into a well-cushioned muscle group, such as the quadriceps, hamstring, or epaxial muscles.
  • Intravenous (IV) Route: Injected directly into the bloodstream
  • Dogs and Cats: 1 to 2 mg per kg of body weight, administered once or twice daily at \(6\text{ to }8\)-hour intervals.
  • Cattle: 0.5 to 1 mg per kg of body weight.
  • Horses: 0.5 to 1 mg per kg of body weight, administered once or twice daily at \(6\text{ to }8\)-hour intervals
