Intracin DEXACIN Vet (Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate 4 mg/ml) is a potent corticosteroid injection used to treat anti-inflammatory and allergic conditions in horses, cattle, pigs, dogs, and cats.
INDICATIONS
- Anti-inflammatory and Allergic Conditions: Used across all mentioned species to treat conditions like dermatitis, allergies, and immune-mediated diseases.
- Cattle: Specifically indicated for the treatment of primary ketosis (acetonaemia) and as an aid in the induction of parturition.
- Horses: Indicated for the treatment of arthritis, bursitis, and tenosynovitis. It is also used as supportive therapy for acute musculoskeletal inflammations such as carpitis, osselets, tendonitis, and myositis.
- Supportive Therapy: Used to manage shock (surgical or septic) and various inflammatory conditions in combination with appropriate primary therapy.
ADMINISTRATION
- Horses: Intravenous or Intramuscular injection.
- Cattle, Pigs, Dogs, Cats: Intramuscular injection.
- Dosage: Generally \(0.06\text{ mg/kg}\) body weight for horses, cattle, and pigs, and \(0.1\text{ mg/kg}\) body weight for dogs and cats. [1]
Contraindications & Warnings
- Conditions: Avoid in animals with diabetes, renal/cardiac issues, Cushing’s, osteoporosis, or ulcers. Do not use during viraemic or fungal infections.
- Pregnancy: Contraindicated, as it may cause abortion, retained placenta, or dystocia.
- Withdrawal: 8 days for meat, 4 days for milk.
