Intracin DEXACIN 2 (Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate Injection B.P.) is a potent, fast-acting synthetic corticosteroid used in veterinary medicine for its anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, and anti-shock effects in horses, cattle, sheep, goats, dogs, and cats.
INDICATIONS
- Anti-inflammatory Conditions: Treatment of acute arthritis, local inflammatory conditions, bursitis, carpitis, tendonitis, and myositis.
- Supportive Therapy: Used to manage inflammatory conditions, such as snake bites, acute mastitis, shipping fever, pneumonia, laminitis, and retained placenta.
- Allergic Reactions: Treatment of allergic dermatitis, eczema, urticaria, and asthma.
- Metabolic Disorders: Treatment of primary bovine ketosis (acetonaemia) and pregnancy toxaemia.
- Shock: Treatment of surgical, hemorrhagic, or septic shock.
- Parturition: As an aid in the induction of parturition in cattle.
ADMINISTRATION
- Horses: Intravenous or intramuscular injection, and also intra-articular.
- Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Dogs, Cats: Intramuscular injection.
Warnings and Precautions:
- Contraindications: Do not use in animals suffering from diabetes mellitus, renal insufficiency, chronic nephritis, congestive heart failure, osteoporosis, or Cushing’s syndrome.
- Pregnancy: Avoid use during the last trimester, as it may induce parturition and lead to dystocia, fetal death, or retained placenta.
- Withdrawal Period: Cattle (meat: 7 days, milk: 60 hours). Do not use in horses intended for human consumption.
