IMIX Injection

Intracin IMIX (an imidocarb dipropionate aqueous solution, 120 mg/ml) is an injectable veterinary antiprotozoal agent used to treat and prevent tick-borne protozoal and rickettsial blood infections in various animal species.

INDICATIONS

  • Cattle:
      • Treatment of Babesiosis (Redwater fever) and Anaplasmosis.
      • Also indicated in certain regions for Theileriosis (East Coast fever).

  • Sheep: Treatment of Babesiosis.
  • Horses: Treatment of equine piroplasmosis (Babesia caballi and Theileria equi).
  • Dogs: Treatment and management of Babesiosis and Ehrlichiosis (e.g., Ehrlichia canis).

ADMINISTRATION

  • Route: Administer via intramuscular (IM) or subcutaneous (SC) routes only. Do not administer intravenously (IV).
  • Dosage Guidelines:
    • Cattle: 1 ml per 100 kg body weight for babesiosis. For mixed Anaplasma and Babesia infections, the dose is 2.5 ml per 100 kg body weight.
    • Sheep: 0.5 ml per 50 kg body weight.
    • Horses: 2 ml per 100 kg body weight. For Theileria equi, a second injection is often administered 24 hours later.
    • Dogs: 0.25 ml per 10 kg body weight. For mixed Ehrlichia and Babesia infections, give 0.5 ml per 10 kg body weight in two separate doses separated by 14 days.
  • Withdrawal Periods (For Livestock): Milk from treated cows or sheep should be discarded for a required period depending on the country or formulation (typically 7 to 21 days), and meat withdrawal usually lasts 28 days.
