Intracin IMMUSOL WS is an oral, broad-spectrum anthelmintic (dewormer) containing levamisole hydrochloride. It is used to prevent and treat gastrointestinal and lungworm infections across various livestock species.
INDICATIONS
- Cattle, Calves, Sheep, and Goats: Treats infections caused by Bunostomum, Chabertia, Cooperia, Dictyocaulus, Haemonchus, Nematodirus, Ostertagia, Protostrongylus, and Trichostrongylus.
- Poultry: Targets Ascaridia and Capillaria.
- Swine: Controls parasites such as Ascaris suum, Hyostrongylus rubidus, Metastrongylus elongatus, Oesophagostomum, and Trichuris suis.
ADMINISTRATION
- Designed for oral administration (often via drinking water or drench).
- Mechanism: Levamisole functions as an agonist at the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors of the parasites, causing muscle spasms followed by irreversible paralysis and expulsion.
- Immunomodulation: At certain dosages, levamisole is also known to exhibit immunomodulatory properties, stimulating the immune response in immunologically suppressed animals.
- Contraindications: Do not administer to animals with impaired hepatic (liver) function or concurrently with pyrantel, morantel, or organophosphates.
- Side Effects: Overdosing can lead to hypersalivation, colic, sweating, and vomiting.
- Withdrawal Periods: Meat: 10 days; Milk: 4 days.
