Intracin TWIN-PGS (Procaine Benzylpenicillin Injection) is used to treat penicillin-sensitive bacterial infections in animals, including mastitis, metritis, anthrax, and tetanus across various species.
INDICATIONS
- Cattle: Used to treat mastitis, metritis, actinomycosis, anthrax, blackleg, tetanus, and hemorrhagic septicemia.
- Horses: Indicated for the treatment of strangles, corynebacterial pneumonia, and tetanus.
- Sheep and Goats: Treats tetanus, foot-rot, and malignant edema.
- Pigs: Primarily used for Erysipelas (erycephalus).
- Dogs: Treats rickettsiosis, tetanus, and secondary wound infections.
ADMINISTRATION
- Contraindications: Do not administer to animals with a known hypersensitivity to penicillins.
- Small Animal Restrictions: It is strictly contraindicated in cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and gerbils, as it can cause fatal gastrointestinal disruptions or toxicity in these species.
- Meat & Milk Withdrawal Periods: Specific withdrawal periods must be observed to prevent residue in the human food supply (e.g., 4 days for cattle meat, and 48 hours for cattle milk).
