Furazolidone

Jackson Furazolidone Tablets are indicated for the treatment of bacterial and protozoal infections in a variety of animals.

Giardiasis: Treatment of Giardia infections in various animals (e.g., dogs, poultry), which can cause foul-smelling diarrhea, weight loss, and chronic intermittent diarrhea.
Coccidiosis / Cystoisospora Infections: Used to manage and treat coccidiosis in poultry and other animals, helping to reduce diarrhea.
Amebic Colitis / Entamoebiasis: Treatment of amebic colitis, which involves bloody diarrhea, particularly in dogs.
Bacterial Enteritis and Diarrhea: Effective against a broad spectrum of enteropathogenic bacteria that cause diarrhea and intestinal inflammation. Susceptible bacteria include:
- Escherichia coli (E. coli)
- Salmonella species
- Shigella species
- Vibrio cholerae (cholera)
- Campylobacter jejuni
- Proteus species
Urinary Tract Infections: Treatment of urinary tract infections, especially those caused by E. coli.

Method: The tablets are intended for oral administration. They may be given with food to minimize gastrointestinal upset. For animals that cannot take solid medication, tablets may be crushed and mixed with a spoonful of corn syrup or other suitable vehicle.
Dosage: Dosage and duration of treatment depend on the specific infection, the animal’s weight, age, and overall health. A veterinarian determines the exact regimen.
Duration: It is critical to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by the veterinarian, even if the animal’s symptoms improve earlier, to prevent the infection from recurring or becoming resistant.
